Regarding the letter to the editor by Susan Hartley (Democracy and inclusivity, Oct. 21). I was pleased to see she takes Paul MacNeill to task over his comments about women in politics. I once enjoyed his criticism against the Liberals when they were in power. However, that all changed when the Dennis King PCs were elected, nothing but praise for them. Indeed, his criticism changed direction abruptly to the Green party. He insinuated they won their seats by default because the voters were angry with the Liberals! A very biased view in my opinion, and certainly offensive to the Green candidates of whom the majority were female. What he was saying was the Green candidates didn’t win by their talents, policies or hard work, they were just lucky! Journalists should maintain a neutral point of view when talking politics. Give criticism where it is merited and praise when appropriate.
