The colourful artwork by Chinese-Canadian children featured in The Guardian's Picture of the Day certainly captures one's eye. Some are from children as young as six. Instead of "stick figures" you might normally expect from young children there are intricate depictions of flowers, animals and other imaginative designs. You would wonder if these children are inherently that talented, or that they have a great art teacher. No doubt it is both. This is not to imply that submissions from other children are not as good. Many are exceptional as well. It's just that those from Jo Jo Zhu’s art classes may be more noticeable. In any case, it is a great opportunity for children to display their work and for Guardian readers to enjoy.
