I recently went to the Breadalbane Public Library to get some videos. When I got there, the entrance to the library was blocked by a small table. The woman behind the desk said I could not enter or touch any books or videos, she would get them for me. She was very helpful and I left with five videos, and I appreciated her efforts dealing with this virus situation we all find ourselves in.

A friend of mine had to go to QEH for some tests last week. She spent almost three hours in a hospital gown going through a series of tests. Not one person was wearing a mask. A nurse told her, “You can wear one if you want to but we are not required to.” This person has several serious health issues, and she is greatly worried about getting COVID-19, and this is the way they treat her through three hours of testing. At one point, she said three nurses were working on her and not one was wearing a mask.

I am a little confused here. Are we treating books and videos more importantly than people? Whoever made the decision that nurses taking care of sick patients did not have to wear masks made a bad decision, and it should be corrected right away as we see more COVID-19 on the Island. Someone told me a long time ago, if you want to get sick just go to a hospital!
