Every year at this time, I am perennially amazed that the road crews haven’t yet figured out how to slowly raise and lower the grinders at the beginning and end of the grooved sections when tearing up existing pavement in preparation of laying new asphalt.

Our neighbours, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, seem to have figured it out, yet P.E.I.’s crews apparently didn’t attend the same class as our neighbours did. Or is the problem they are working with antiquated equipment that doesn’t have this capability? How many bent rims and blown tires have to happen before something is done about this?
