It is mid-summer, and I have not been able to see you this year. I understand why, and am very glad to know that P.E.I. is being carefully guided through this pandemic, But, this is the first year of my 64 years that I have not been able to come “home.”
I feel a bit like Anne, longing for your shining waters, your beautiful rolling landscape, your red soil and your people. They are my people, too: my elderly parents in long-term care, my brothers, sisters, and almost 15 nieces and nephews.
I live in Ontario, and while it is “away”, it is never far away as we have come to P.E.I. every year, often several times each year. Our Ontario family, and their young children all love to visit when they can. Stay safe, dear P.E.I. I will come home soon as it is safe to do so.
You hold my people, and precious roots for many of us who love you.
