I don't consider myself a very political person, and I'm certainly not affiliated with a particular party, but I have to share how impressed I am with the province for providing Islanders who don't have family doctors with a free subscription to the Maple mobile app.

I had my first virtual visit this week and was very impressed with how easy it was to use the Maple app. In what felt like less than 10 minutes, I was able to type in my reason for the visit, have a video chat with a local Island doctor, receive a bloodwork requisition and have my prescription refill forwarded to my pharmacy. It was a wonderful experience, not only in terms of how quickly it took place but also in how it saved me from sitting in a clinic waiting room with potentially contagious patients. So thank you to the current government of the day — I might not have my own family doctor, but having free digital access to local practitioners is a very effective and very appreciated alternative.
