While working to restore the Pioneer Cemetery at Murray River I noticed the rails to trails stonework nearby was not visible due to all the bush. I was able to clean up the area to make it attractive to those passing by. Then a few days later I came back to see the old stonework gone and a nice new culvert in place. This was done because of a washout and cave-in of the old culvert over this past winter. The Graphic had a picture of this a few weeks ago.
I thought it would look nice to have a sign which reads: Railroad Built 1871, Closed 1968, Trails 1990s. A few days later when I came back to put the sign in place, the old stonework was gone but the area looks neat, clean and safe thanks to: "The Confederation Trail Association".
Let's continue to keep our Isle the place our ancestors worked so hard to make happen and possible to enjoy.
