The question of a guaranteed income, a basic wage for all, is being raised more than ever now due to this worldwide pandemic. What are the chances? Are any political parties in Canada even slightly in favour of this?

Is there a country anywhere that has what resembles a guaranteed income policy? And suppose that we had such a system already in Canada, would Ottawa still be shovelling money out its front door as it does every day now?

Remember the medicare debates of earlier years in Canada? The idea seemed just talk until Saskatchewan brought it on in the 1960s. Soon after, Canada did likewise. Why not the same push for a guaranteed income now?

Will some people, easy with the facts, kindly show us the financial picture of a guaranteed income for Canadians? Nothing too detailed to understand, just basic stuff for ordinary readers.
