On two separate occasions recently information has been published in The Guardian regarding the City of Summerside’s council decision to work with the owner of a derelict building on Granville Street to "get something done".
Along with many others, I am happy with this collaboration and look forward to the improvements.
For historical purposes I would like to suggest a correction in the Guardian articles. They note previous uses of the building as: "Holland College, Athena and Centennial Pool". The building referred to in the two Guardian articles should read: "The building previously housed Holland College, Prince County Vocational School and Centennial Pool."
Athena Regional High School (ARHS) was on the corner of Ryan and Granville Streets and there was a large parking lot shared with Prince County Vocational School (PCVHS); they were both wonderful schools but they were, indeed, two completely, separate school buildings. Also, Athena was demolished in 2000 so it is definitely not the building noted to be up for improvements.
