I was at the grocery store yesterday, and very concerned to see that customers are not keeping a safe distance to prevent cashiers from getting exposed to exhalations from customer after customer.
Some stores have Plexiglas shields, it will take some time to get this done everywhere.
Meanwhile, they have committed to putting two-metre markers at checkout lines to keep a safe distance between customers.
But those most at risk are cashiers.
It is urgent for all grocery stores to protect all the people working as cashiers from being needlessly exposed to Covid-19 and other infections while they are providing their communities the valuable service of making food available.
