Would Steven Myers please explain to me, indeed to all Islanders, why it is so important to spent a huge amount of money on repairing this bridge to nowhere (Bridge to nowhere, May 12).

There is absolutely no vehicular requirements for this bridge. In fact it would be environmentally beneficial to remove it and the causeway leading to it. No traffic (bicycles, cars, buses, trucks, tractors) use this structure; perhaps a few snowmobiles for a couple of winter months.

Compare this with the fact your government claimed they couldn’t afford to install a bike lane on the Hillsborough bridge during recent repairs. This must surely and seriously beg the following question: Of these two projects, which would have proved more beneficial to a majority of Islanders?
