We are so fortunate in this province to have so many wonderful summer camps. Each one offers different things for our children/ youth to enjoy in the beauty that is our home. As the board of Camp Abegweit, affectionately called, Camp Abby, we’d like to make sure your readers know who we are.

Our camp is under the supervision of the P.E.I. United Church Presbytery, with a volunteer board handling the day-to-day workings.

Following the United Church practice of faith, we welcome staff, children and youth from all faith backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. We proudly fly the Pride Flag and acknowledge we are on the unceded territories of the Mi’kmaq. We see all of this as following Jesus’ way of recognizing all as God’s large family on earth. Time spent at camp can be life changing for our children/ youth. Because of this, we know it is important for campers to see themselves in their leaders at camp. Having LBGTQ2 staff members adds to the diversity we want to offer our campers.

As you choose the right camp for your children/youth this summer, find the camp that fits with your way of seeing the world around you. We’re biased of course, but we know you’ll love Camp Abby.

Rev. Bob Lockhart,

Chair of the board,

Camp Abegweit
