In response to the lady from Wisconsin who is threatening to withhold paying property taxes on their seasonal property in St. Peters (No entry, no tax, July 24), I say: "Great idea." I'll be watching the tax sales which occur every year on delinquent accounts. Your property should be eligible for the list by 2024.
Our provincial government has done a marvelous job dealing with COVID-19, and in dealing with the unknown, they have made difficult decisions and put measures in place to protect all of us on P.E.I. Some of those measures are travel restrictions, and are necessary to protect the public at large. We have summer residents here in the Habour, too. Some of them are here, some are not, depending on circumstances like where you're coming from.
I'm going to miss seeing my friends this summer, but they, and I, realize it's necessary to contain COVID-19. Now that you've had your hissy fit, you may want to rethink your tax position. But — just in case — I'll be scrutinizing the tax sales. If your goal was sympathy, you missed the mark.
