Thank you to Premier Dennis King, Dr. Heather Morrison and all the health-care teams for driving the process to keep Islanders safe during this pandemic. You had the foresight to recognize we live on an island and quickly closed incoming traffic via air/water/bridge while still allowing all P.E.I. residents travelling around the world to come back to P.E.I. with immediate isolation of two weeks. As of June 1, Canadian seasonal residents of P.E.I. must apply/get prior approval to come back to P.E.I. with isolation of two weeks while the Island is still closed to incoming traffic via air/water/bridge — another tiny step in the right direction.

As per the article (Ctrl Alt Delete health care, May 16), Dr. Jain quoted “Strong vision and leadership could see P.E.I. emerge from this unprecedented challenge with a revamped and far superior health-care system”.

I urge Premier King to take up the challenge from Dr. Jain (ER and disaster medicine physician) to set up a new health-care committee/system of which Dr. Jain could chair based on his around-the-world environments he has experienced, which is a gift to P.E.I. This is a window of opportunity to move P.E.I. health care forward, giving Islanders what they deserve — extraordinary care — with P.E.I. being the model for health care into the 21st century.

Please, Premier King, this “health” gift has been offered, I urge you to act now.

Glenda Frizzell,
Charlottetown
