Loretta McRobert is stressed over the term “social distancing” (Words should be clearer, March 30). As she points out, there is absolutely nothing sociable about it. It is anti-social, by definition. As she points out, we are missing out on our hugs and kisses. However, as our medical advisers say, it may save you and yours from illness.

The cure for anti-social distancing, if it works for you, is to keep a tally on how many hugs and kisses you’d like to owe a loved one, with promises to deliver them when we can do it, safely. Plan that the numbers of kisses and hugs will accrue interest faster than our credit cards do, so, when we are finally allowed, we can be the huggiest and kissiest.

Until then, wash your hands; don't touch your face. Advice from an Ontario friend: “Don't pick your nose. Don't pick your friend’s nose.”

Be peaceful. Stay well.
