Peacefully at home in Tignish Shore on Sunday February 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family of Velda M. Bernard aged 78 years. Beloved wife of Cyrus J. Bernard. She was born in DeBlois on January 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Alphy and Marguerita (Allain) Doucette. Dear mother to Donna MacKay (Henry), Kildare Capes; Anne-Bernard Bourgeois (Daniel), Moncton; Karen MacLennan (Greg), Charlottetown, Janice Bernard, Lake Verde, PE and stepson Carl Perry. Loving grandmother to Curtis and Kyle Pitre, Alexandre and Jeremie Bourgeois, Roland and Liam MacLennan, Gabriel Pirch, Eli and Ava Fall, Megan and Maria Perry. She is also survived by brothers and sisters Leroy Doucette (Kathleen), Helen McKenna (Roy), Ivan Doucette (Austina), Dennis Doucette (Brenda), Eileen Doucette-Connor (Roger) and Joan Doucette (Jim Sutton), brother-in-law Joseph Martell and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Alphy and Marguerita, daughter Paulette, sisters Ida McInnis and Edna Martell. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home for visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Thursday March 1, 2018 at St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Celebrant Rev.
