Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for all of P.E.I. Wednesday thanks to a rapidly intensifying low-pressure system approaching from the southwest.

Gusts ahead of the low were expected to reach up to 70 km/h overnight Tuesday.

Winds are expected to shift and increase throughout Wednesday morning with gusts reaching up to 90 km/h by Wednesday afternoon.

The strong gusts will persist into Wednesday evening. Winds are expected to begin to ease on Thursday.

Environment Canada says damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur and high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
