CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who was charged in connection with an incident at a tattoo shop that cost its owner part of his leg had a warrant issued for his arrest Thursday.

Sean Michael Lombardi, 27, was not in provincial court before Judge John Douglas in Charlottetown when his case was called.

When he didn’t show up, Douglas issued a warrant for his arrest.

Lombardi was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon for his alleged role in the Dec. 23, 2018, incident at Extreme Ink in Charlottetown.

The shop’s owner, Donald (Artie) Gautreau, had part of his leg amputated after one of the accused allegedly pinned him against the building with a vehicle.

Riley MacFadyen, 21, was also charged with assault with a weapon but has pleaded not guilty and is set for a two-day trial starting June 3.

Gautreau was given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to mischief in connection with the incident.

Lombardi also wasn’t in court during his last scheduled appearance earlier this month when his case was called.

At that time, the court heard he was working out West and waiting to see if his application for legal aid would be approved.

On Thursday, legal aid lawyer Alex Dalton told the court Lombardi had been notified he didn’t qualify because of his finances.
