Victim of Inverness, P.E.I., crash identified as Barbara Grace McCormick

The woman who died in a single-vehicle crash in Prince County has been identified as 53-year-old Barbara “Barb” Grace McCormick.

The crash occurred early Wednesday morning when McCormick’s westbound vehicle left Route 2 in Inverness, went into a ditch a struck a utility pole.

McCormick, the driver and lone occupant, was taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

It was the second of three fatal crashes this week. The first on Tuesday near East Point claimed the life of John Frederick MacDonald, 71, of North Lake; while a head-on collision near Orwell on Wednesday killed a 34-year-old man.

According to a death notice, McCormick was born in O’Leary to Lloyd Colicutt and the late Juanita (nee Bulger).

She is survived by her husband Fred McCormick, and was mother to Richard Anger (Sue), and step-mother of Elizabeth Ann and Cory McCormick. She also leaves behind grandchildren Malerie, Freddie and Rebecca, along with her brother and sisters Brian (Suzanne) Collicutt, June (David) Durksen, Blaine Collicutt, Victoria Collicutt and several nieces and nephews.

McCormick is resting at the East Prince Funeral Home in Summerside.  

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
