SUMMERSIDE – Summerside city council passed a motion during its committee meeting Tuesday night authorizing, if need be, of 99 Duke Street.

The house on that property has been vacant for a number of years. Power was cut to the building in October 2014.

Neighbours have been complaining about the property, the condition of which has started to significantly deteriorate.

Multiple attempts to contact the owner have been made by the city. No action has been taken to improve the home’s condition.

The city has received a quote of $4,500 to demolish the property if need be. The bill would be sent to the property owner.

Council still has to give full approval of the motion at its next council meeting. The owner can still take action between now and then.
