Free Family Fun Day
Saturday, 11 a.m., Canadian Red Cross, Charlottetown

The Canadian Red Cross in P.E.I. hosts its annual Family Fun Day. This is a free event that is open to the public. Free popcorn and cotton candy, teddy bear first-aid clinic, door prizes, crafts, face painting, colouring and games. Learn what programs the Red Cross offers.

Bluegrass Old Country Jamboree
Saturday, 7 p.m., Harbourfront Theatre, Summerside

The 19th annual Bluegrass Old Country Jamboree will be an evening of entertainment featuring the Oxbow Mountain Boys, Mark Boutilier from Nova Scotia, and P.E.I.’s own Joe Casey and Westwind. Master of ceremonies for the evening will be Marilyn Singer.

Roots & Boots
Saturday, 8 p.m., Credit Union Place, Summerside

Roots & Boots 2018 features Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye. The tour combines three iconic acts into a single show filled with songs and stories that will take you back to when country music was king. Each artist will sing acoustic versions of the songs that gave them their top successes. Tickets available at the Credit Union Place or on-line at www.ecpg.ca.

Metal rockers Death Valley Driver, The Bombed Solid and DreadFort are bringing all sorts of loud to Baba's Lounge this Saturday night. Doors open at 9 p.m.

“Bluefin”
Sunday, 2 p.m., UPEI’s MacDougall Hall room 242, Charlottetown

Island filmmaker John Hopkins will introduce his multi-award-winning film, “Bluefin.” March 25. Filmed in the “tuna capital of the world,” North Lake, the documentary explores the baffling mystery of a sudden abundance of tuna off the shores of eastern Prince Edward Island, despite scientific assessments claiming tuna stocks are substantially depleted. With stunning cinematography, director John Hopkins documents this mystery, exploring the complex issues at the heart of the story. Underlying the documentary is a shared and passionate concern for the fate of the giant bluefin tuna. This screening is being hosted by the UPEI Environmental Society and Save our Seas and Shores P.E.I. and Cinema Politica Charlottetown.

Art Party “Open Studio”
Sunday, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., East Coast Art Party P.E.I., 135 Great George St., Charlottetown

Come in and paint whatever you like. Canvas and supplies will be provided. Share a bottle of wine with a friend and you can create your own masterpiece. Staff will have step-by-step instruction cards for some of the paintings. There will not be an artist on duty (but there will be a bartender).
