MORRIS ISLAND, N.S. — Aircraft from 14 Wing Greenwood have been searching the Morris Island, Yarmouth County area since the afternoon of Jan. 12 after a small boat reportedly capsized.
JRCC reported during the day that one person was found deceased along the shoreline and another person is missing.
At 1424 AST, JRCC Halifax received a call from NS RCMP indicating that there was a missing person in the water in vicinity of Morris Island. A second person was found deceased along the shoreline and is connected to the missing person.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Halifax received a call from Nova Scotia RCMP about the incident at 2:24 p.m. on Jan. 12.
RCMP have been on the scene and a CH-149 Cormorant helicoptor, CH-130 Hercules and PAL aircraft, in addition to the vessel CCGS Clarks Harbour, are searching for the missing person.

The Yarmouth County Search and Rescue team will join the search at 8 a.m. the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 13. The search team posted on its Facebook page Tuesday evening that it had been activated.
As of 10 p.m. Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, the RCMP had not issued a media release about the search but did confirm in an email earlier in the day that a search for a missing person was underway. No names of individuals had been released by the RCMP.
The search is ongoing and further updates will be provided as new information comes in.
