A 32-year-old P.E.I. man was sentenced to 60 days in jail for common assault – his third assault conviction since May.

Renier Lorenzo Perez pleaded guilty to assaulting a man on Sept. 20 in Charlottetown with an open hand slap on the face.

The Crown described Perez as having "violent tendancies".

Perez will serve his sentence on consecutive weekends.

He must pay a $100 victim of crime surcharge and write a letter of apology to the victim.
