STANLEY BRIDGE, P.E.I. — Swimming Rock park will be cleaned up and upgraded by the end of June.
The Stanley Bridge park was discussed during the Resort Municipality's recent monthly council meeting, held via video conference.
Swimming Rock was damaged during post tropical storm Dorian in September with the steps down to the water being destroyed and many trees being blown over.
Council awarded contracts for new steps to be designed and constructed, and another one for tree removal after tendering the projects.
Livingston Steele Inc. will build the new steps for about $24,000 and the work is expected to be finished by June 30. It will be funded in part by the park's insurance settlement as well as from the municipality's community projects budget.
"We're going to emerge with a much better set of steps then what we had before," said Mayor Matthew Jelley.
Doiron's Tree Service will remove the fallen trees for about $1,800. The work is expected to be completed by this weekend.
