CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) hopes to help owners better understand the common and complex problems that can happen to a horse’s digestive system, with a free workshop on the topic.

Dr. Martha Mellish, of the AVC’s Equine Ambulatory Service, will be the speaker at the presentation, entitled “A pain in the gut: Managing equine digestive issues,” which will take place in the Lecture Theatre A, Atlantic Veterinary College on Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m.

The more knowledge horse owners have on their animal’s complex gastrointestinal system and equally complex digestive problems, the better they can understand and manage these problems if they arise.

Mellish will use a practical model to explain the horse’s gastrointestinal tract functions and the common medical problems that can affect it.

Refreshments will be served at the free event, which is open to the public.
