NORTH WILTSHIRE, P.E.I. - The staff members at the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale want everyone to experience what their industry has to offer.
As a way to promote winter sports, the ski park is taking part in the fifth annual National Ski and Snowboard Day on Jan. 27.
The event unites Canadians from coast to coast and celebrates the power of winter snow sports and their accessibility to Canadians by providing skiers and snowboarders with specially discounted lift passes.
As part of the event, full day lift passes will be on sale for $20 plus tax and can be purchased online at Skicanada.org/shop/nssd-fun/. Those who cannot attend the Jan. 27 event can purchase the online ticket and bring the redemption code to the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale on Jan. 26 to receive the discounted price.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the discounted lift passes will go towards Canada’s professional ski and snowboard athletes. Alpine Canada, Canada Snowboard, Freestyle Canada and the Canadian Ski Council are the organizing bodies behind the annual event.
Special offers and experiences will be available at each participating ski area, with 100 ski area partners taking part.
Erin Curley, assistant superintendent of the provincial ski park, said the park will be hosting a bonfire complete with s’mores and hot chocolate to celebrate the event.
“It’s a fun way to end your day,” said Curley.
The park will also offer a package during the event which is part of the Never Ever Days promotion that includes a beginner lift ticket, equipment rental a lesson for $25 plus tax.
“It’s an amazing deal,” said Curley. “We aren’t sold out at the moment, but I expect to sell out.”
Curley said the staff is “super positive” about the industry and wants to promote it as much as possible.
“Often, new people are not sure if they’re going to enjoy it, and they don’t want to invest a lot of money,” she said. “This package is a great way to do that – they can try it, see if they like it, and odds are they’re going to love it.”
The package is available at Nevereverdays.com. This promotion will also be offered at the Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale on Jan. 18 and Feb. 8 in the evening, and Feb. 23 in the afternoon.
