CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman who was caught driving drunk after a report from the public was sentenced recently to three days in jail.

Isabelle Chevarie, 24, appeared before Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where she pleaded guilty to drunk driving.

Crown attorney John Diamond told the court that on Jan. 16, Charlottetown police received a complaint about a possible impaired driver.

The police stopped Chevarie who later provided breathalyzer samples that were around twice the legal limit.

Before sentencing Chevarie, Orr said drinking and driving continues to be a problem in P.E.I., noting there were 14 impaired driving cases on that day’s court docket.

Along with the jail time, Orr fined Chevarie $1,500 and ordered her to pay a $450 victim surcharge.

Chevarie is banned from driving for one year.
