CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A Summerside man who was involved in the theft of more than $275 worth of items from a Sobeys and missed a court date was sentenced recently to 15 days in jail.

Jason Allan Fraser, 46, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown for sentencing on charges of theft, failing to attend court and breaching his probation.

Crown attorney Emily Campbell told the court that on Dec. 22, Fraser was with another man when they stole $276.09 in meat and deli items.

Those items were recovered.

Fraser was on probation at the time and Campbell said he missed a court appearance in September.

Campbell told the court Fraser had a 35-page criminal record, including 28 prior convictions for theft.

Douglas sentenced Fraser to 15 days in jail for missing his court appearance and gave him suspended sentences for the theft and probation breach.

Along with the jail time, Fraser will be on probation for one year.
