CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who told police the baseball bat they found him with was for protection was recently given a suspended sentence and ordered to perform 20 hours of community service.
Cameron Geoffrey Dobson, 29, appeared before Judge Jeff Lantz in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Crown attorney Jeff MacDonald told the court that on Aug. 21 at around 8:30 p.m. the police were called about two suspicious males.
The police found two men in a car, including Dobson who had a bat that he said he wanted for protection.
With the suspended sentence, Dobson will be on probation for six months.
