Health-care professionals in P.E.I. now have new opportunities to hone their French language skills.
Café de Paris, a voluntary drop-in language support service, is now being offered at Maplewood Manor in Alberton, Community Hospital in O’Leary, Prince County Hospital in Summerside, and Beach Grove Home and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown.
Staff at these facilities can make an appointment with a tutor to review specific language questions or simply drop in to engage in conversation to help develop or maintain their French language speaking skills.
Café de Paris includes drop-in language support, scheduled one-on-one sessions with a tutor, customized cue cards of common words and sentences used in the health care field and language training reference materials.
It is also being offered as a pilot project to provincial government employees in Charlottetown and Summerside. That’s on top of French language training opportunities currently being offered to these employees.
