THREE RIVERS, P.E.I. —The RCMP's Kings detachment recently acquired a few snowmobiles and ATVs to patrol Island trails.
Staff Sgt. Darryl McMullin spoke briefly on the acquisition during a Three Rivers' council meeting in Georgetown on Jan. 11.
"We haven't had (snowmobiles) here in a while," he told council. "We're expecting to be highly visible this winter on the trails."
McMullin noted that if snowmobilers or ATV riders are drinking alcohol they can be charged for impaired driving, which he anticipates the patrols will help to catch.
"We'll be out there checking for trail stickers and for sobriety," he said.
