CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. woman who stole more than $500 worth of items from two stores was recently given a suspended sentence and a warning she could face jail time if she is back in court again.

Alicia Dawn MacArthur, 23, appeared before Judge Jeff Lantz in provincial court in Charlottetown for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to one count of theft.

The court heard MacArthur stole more than $500 worth of items from Shoppers Drug Mart and Luna Eclectic Emporium in Charlottetown.

Those items were recovered.

The court also heard MacArthur, who is pregnant, has addiction issues and has taken steps to address them.

Lantz told MacArthur he was giving her one more chance, but if she is back in court again, she will likely be looking at a jail sentence.

With the suspended sentence, MacArthur will be on probation for one year.
