Melva Cormier, 89, of South Rustico was among several Islanders presented with honour plaques recently by Lt.-Gov. Antoinette Perry. Cormier accepted the placque on behalf of her late husband Alfred Cormier, who died Oct. 19.
Alfred served with the North Nova Highlanders during the Second World War.
Melva accepted the plaque during the closing reception for Flags of Remembrance. The 128 Canadian flags at the Charlottetown Event Grounds represented the 128,000 Canadians killed and missing in action in armed conflict from the Boer War to present.
