Charlottetown Rural High School
Aaron Currie, a Grade 11 French Immersion student and winner of the Canadian Parents for French Student Excellence Award, will travel to Ottawa next week to participate in Rencontres du Canada (Encounters with Canada).
Charlottetown Rural is selling vouchers for wave petunia hanging baskets from VanKampen’s Greenhouses to raise funds for Safe Grad activities. Vouchers can be purchased for $30 through the main office. Cash only.
Montague Regional High School
Congratulations to the students who were awarded medals at the Skills P.E.I. Awards Ceremony last week. Winners include: Travis LaPointe, Gold, Automotive; Alex Bourgeois, Silver, Outdoor Power and Recreational Equipment; Thaddeus Rooney, Silver, Workplace Safety; Braden Gillis, Silver, Automotive; Colin Lea, Silver, Carpentry; Matthew Nicholson and Brady Vincent, Bronze, Robotics and Noah Greencorn, Bronze, Welding.
MRHS is hosting a Wellness Expo on Wednesday from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. The event highlights healthy living and mindfulness.
The leadership class has organized a raffle with proceeds going to the Brodie McCarthy Scholarship Fund and to help buy new jerseys at the school. Prizes include signed jerseys from many Island celebrities as well as a mattress and a basketball camp registration. Contact the school for information on how to purchase tickets.
Congratulations to student Nicolle MacDonald, who has joined 4-H Canada's Hands to Larger Service Program as a youth service leader. Nicolle will travel from coast to coast this summer, planning and implementing service projects based in different communities.
Kinkora High School
On Tuesday ADP students will be featured on Compass with Jay Scotland to promote the annual Blazer Beef Supper. Parent council meets at 6 p.m.
There are no classes on Good Friday, April 19 and Easter Monday, April 22.
The Beef Blazer Supper is Saturday, April 27, 4-6 p.m., at Kinkora Place. A major KRHS fundraiser, cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children-under-12. Take-out will also be available.
Students are fundraising for their Victory in Europe Tour 2020. They are selling 50/50 tickets every Tuesday evening at the Kinkora Bingo. Students are also selling tickets on a Lobster Supper for 10. Draw is May 2. For more information, contact Kevin Bustard at 902-887-2424 or [email protected].
There’s a meeting for grads and parents on April 30, 6:30 p.m., to discuss year-end activities.
The Grad Gala/Prom is Saturday, May 18, 5 p.m., at Kinkora Place. Tickets will be on sale from April 23 to 26.
The school is looking for a grad family to host the annual grad barbecue following Grade 12 exams in June. Another family is being sought to host the grad breakfast on graduation morning, June 20. Anyone interested is asked to call Jaime Cole.
Colonel Gray High School
Mid-semester report cards were sent home with students last week.
St. Mary’s University will assist applicants with course registration in Computer Lab 153 on April 24 at lunchtime.
Free the Children will host a trivia night in the cafeteria on April 25 from 7- 9 p.m. All students are welcome. Admission is $5 for CGHS students, $6 for students from another school.
Tickets for the school musical, “We Will Rock You”, are now on sale at the Confederation Centre box office. Public performances are May 9-11 at 7:30 p.m.
Westisle Composite High School
Students will not have classes on April 19 (Good Friday), April 22 (Easter Monday), May 3 (Association meeting) and May 20 (Victoria Day).
The prom will take place May 25 at the Mill River Experience.
Westisle students completed course selection last Wednesday. Any students who were absent are asked to contact guidance or the office. Appreciation is expressed to parents/guardians who attended parent-teacher interviews last week.
Appreciation is also expressed everyone who has been putting in the extra effort to get the school’s parking lots seen to. Westisle has been in contact with people to see about having the parking lot scraped and holes filled to keep things manageable until a larger renovation can take place. Students must park in the designated area. Parking in other parts of the school leads to high traffic areas and can be a safety concern.
