Chris Gallant, a driver with The Guardian, had to delay delivering his newspapers and flyers on Thursday, Feb. 6, after his car became engulfed in flames on Route 13 in Brookvale.

Gallant, who delivers to the Cornwall, Bonshaw and North Wiltshire areas, says his car lost power suddenly and he had to drive it into a snowbank to stop it.

Within minutes, the car and all of its contents were lost — including Gallant's wallet, house keys, car seat and the only photo Gallant had of him and his brother who died in a car accident a few years ago.

Gallant says if his young son had been in the car with him, he is not sure if he would have gotten to him in time.

"I am a single dad of a six-year-old, but he was home with my fiance," Gallant said. " If he was with me, I would've never gotten him out. It is scary."

At supper time Thursday, Gallant was attempting to make his deliveries in a rental car as a weather system was bringing swirling snow to the region.
