CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —
A woman who stole about $3,000 from a home and school association while she was the group’s president will be back in court in April to hear her sentence.
Janna-Lynne Durant, 38, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown where she pleaded guilty to the theft that dates back to 2016.
Crown attorney Jeff MacDonald told the court Durant stole about $3,000 from the St. Jean Elementary home and school while she was president.
MacDonald said Durant was supposed to deposit the money that was raised through fundraisers but spent it instead.
The court heard Durant admitted to the theft and said she was financially stressed at the time.
Durant was in court Wednesday and sat at the defence table with her lawyer who asked for a pre-sentence report before sentencing.
Douglas ordered a pre-sentence report be prepared and he adjourned the matter until April 8.
Durant is no longer listed as president of the home and school.
