CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A retired sheriff who is facing four counts of sexual assault has had his case adjourned to Jan. 30.

Charges William Vernon Acorn, 83, is also facing charge include sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, uttering a threat and unlawful storage of a firearm.

Acorn was the host of the cable television show, Bill’s Country Jamboree, and in 2012 he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
