CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Canadian Blood Services will thank P.E.I. residents for their help saving patients’ lives with a special event on Wednesday.
Entitled ‘Honouring Canada’s Lifeline’, this annual ceremony recognizes those who have achieved significant milestones donating blood, platelets and plasma.
It takes place June 12 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall at Holland College on Weymouth Street in Charlottetown.
Donors at the event will have made 4,175 donations collectively, including Deryl Matheson, who will be receiving an award for donating 800 times.
Corey Tremere will be the guest speaker. In 2004, Tremere fell ill and was admitted to the hospital and received four emergency blood transfusions.
About 34 donors, volunteers and partners will be honoured at the event.
