Children celebrate, walking hand-in-hand during parade

Communities across the Island participated in the 2016 National Child Day parade, with the aim to celebrate the rights of children and ensure that they are maintained.

That includes the rights to good health, education, protection from harm, to be proud of their heritage and beliefs and to be included.

“The success of these events is credited to the support of families and participation of many child care centres,” said Sonya Hooper, the executive director for the P.E.I. Early Childhood Development association.

“National Child Day heightens awareness of our joint responsibility to ensure children’s rights, health, safety and freedoms.”
