CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A traffic advisory has been issued with the following impacts expected for Tuesday, Sept. 29:

  • Prince Street between Euston and Kent streets will be closed for the day for street paving to occur. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Traffic control personnel will be on site.
  • Street line painting will occur on Belvedere Avenue between Queen Street and North River Road from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Single lane closures may occur. Traffic control personnel will be on site to maintain traffic flow.


Sidewalk and curbing work are scheduled to take place in the following areas (for the week of Sept. 28 – Oct. 2):

  • Arcona Drive between Pope and Messer avenues
  • Messer Avenue between Arcona and Yorkshire drives
  • Beach Grove Road between Kirkcaldy Drive and Maypoint Road
  • Chestnut Street between University Avenue and Queen Street


Work will be taking place on Beach Grove Road, from the corner of Maypoint Road towards the Beach Grove Home. Traffic may be reduced to one lane alternating throughout the day to allow for the construction of the active pathway along Beach Grove Road that will connect to a trail near the Beach Grove Home. This work is expected to be ongoing for several weeks.

UPEI road extension work will be taking place for the week Sept. 28 – Oct. 2. This work consists of the expansion of the University Avenue and Enman Crescent (south) intersection, including the widening of the roadway and work on the median. Only minor traffic delays are expected, and traffic control personnel will be on site. Pedestrians are advised to use the sidewalk on the UPEI side of University Avenue as heavy equipment will be on the opposite side of the road relocating the sidewalk.

Weymouth Street from Grafton to Sydney streets will be closed for paving beginning at approximately 10 a.m.


From the provincial traffic advisory:

Paving at St. Peters Road and Charlottetown Perimeter Highway Intersection was scheduled to start Monday, Sept. 28 and is expected to be complete by end of day Wednesday, Sept. 30. Drivers should expect additional delays due to this work and are encouraged to choose alternate routes.

Utility crews began work on Monday, Sept. 28 to carry out maintenance and repair along Riverside Drive in Charlottetown. This work will require Riverside Drive to be reduced down to one lane between the Garfield Street Roundabout and Murchison Lane. The lane reduction will be in place during daytime and nighttime hours. This work is expected to be completed by end of day Thursday, Oct. 1.
