CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The City of Charlottetown’s parks and recreation department would like to inform residents that the recreational community pools will open for the season this weekend.

The Simmons Pool will also open on Saturday June 27. The pool will operate from 1 p.m. until 7:45 p.m., seven days a week. Admission to the Simmons Pool is free. At this time there will be no lane swims taking place.
The city pools will close early on Canada Day, July 1 – Victoria Park pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Simmons Pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.
Due to the policies and procedures set by the CPHO, both pools will operate on a limited capacity and swims will be split into one-hour time frames. All users will be required to sign in with the gate attendant and provide their name and telephone number for contact tracing before entering the pool area.
Victoria Park pool will be limited to 35 people per swim and Simmons pool will be limited to 45 people per swim.
When a swim time reaches capacity, individuals may sign up for the next available swim. There will also be a separate entrance and exit at both pools. Signage will be posted.
Children under seven years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult or they will not be permitted in the pool.
There will be no change rooms available for use at either pool, so swimmers are required to shower at home first and should come to the pool with their bathing suit on.
When using any public pool, the public is required to maintain social distancing and maintain proper etiquette with relation to coughing and sneezing.
City staff will continue to monitor these facilities and the city requests that all measures be followed and thanks the public for their cooperation and understanding.
If the public does not adhere to these procedures, restrictions could be placed on these facilities.
