Charlottetown man charged after he was caught shoplifting

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A 49-year-old Charlottetown man faces charges after he was caught shoplifting from a Charlottetown business.

On Jan. 21 at 6 p.m., Charlottetown police responded to a complaint from a retail store reporting that a shoplifter had just left the store with a cart full of stolen merchandise.

Police attended the scene and located the suspect in the parking lot.

The man has been charged with theft under $5,000.

He was released from custody with conditions and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
