A 43-year-old Central Kings man was fined after failing to stop when a school bus had its red lights flashing.

On Thursday, Sept. 17 just after 8 a.m., an Eastern District school bus had its red lights flashing and side stop signs activated on Route #4 in Cardigan when the man proceeded to drive through.

A witness who was stopped behind the bus was the initial complainant to police, who were able to obtain a licence plate number and description of the vehicle.

Statements were taken from the witness and the bus driver who had also witnessed the incident.

The driver was issued a $1,000 fine.

Drivers are reminded to be extra diligent in or around school buses and school zones.

Any subsequent infractions of passing a school bus can result in a fine of up to $5,000.
