SYDNEY — The College of Physicians and Surgeons has announced the upcoming disciplinary hearing against a Cape Breton-based doctor will be closed to the public.

The hearing scheduled for Feb. 24 in Halifax involves allegations against Dr. Manivasan Moodley, an obstetrician and gynecologist, made by two different female complainants in July 2017. These allegations include making comments of a sexual or personal nature, performing an exam in a sexualized manner and unnecessarily performing an internal exam.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., media, legal counsel and people like family members of parties involved can attend the disciplinary hearing. A publication ban remains on the names of the complainants and any identifying information about them.

People attending the hearing will be asked to sign-in and abide by the publication ban, which includes no live broadcasting, no Twitter updates and no photos or video recording during the hearing.
