Three adults have been displaced by a fire that caused major damage to a one-a-half-storey house in Souris.

Canadian Red Cross volunteers are assisting two women and a man with emergency lodging and purchases of clothing, food and other essentials.

One person was home at the time but escaped unhurt from the blaze on Lavie Avenue, reported shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Red Cross support was arranged remotely by volunteers in Charlottetown due to social distancing and other coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) health restrictions.
