CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A P.E.I. man who was riding a snowmobile while he was prohibited from driving was sentenced recently to 35 days in jail.
Michael Charles Doucette, 56, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he was sentenced for driving while prohibited.
During a previous appearance, the court heard conservation officers had a checkstop on a snowmobile trail in Millvale on Feb. 21 when Doucette and another rider pulled up.
The conservation officers learned Doucette’s driver’s licence was cancelled and both riders fled.
Sentencing was adjourned after the guilty plea to give Doucette a chance to work through his busy period doing marine engine repair.
