A 40-year-old P.E.I. man pleaded guilty to causing a disturbance after a violent outburst in provincial court.

Mark Adam MacKinnon, 40, was sentenced to five days concurrent to any time he is already serving.

His lawyer noted in court Thursday that MacKinnon “overreacted’’ when he spewed obscenities and tried to flip over a table in court on July 17.

Provincial Court Judge John Douglas said he did not take the cursing and screaming personally, rather viewing the outburst as being directed towards the court system as a whole.

Douglas added a letter of apology written by MacKinnon was “timely and sincere.’’
