The Congress of Aboriginals Peoples recently approved funding of $250,000 to the Native Council of P.E.I.’s Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISETP).
This amount marks the largest single funding ever given to an affiliate organization.
The ISET strategy program is designed to help off-reserve Indigenous Peoples prepare for and find high-demand jobs that will address P.E.I.’s labour market challenges.
The ISETP strategy offers financial assistance for education, including college – up to two years of funding; university – final year of study; scholarships – two $500 scholarships provided by L’nu Fisheries Ltd.; and certification – programs affiliated with professional or trade associations.
For more than 40 years, NCPEI represents and advocates for status, non-status, Inuit and Métis Peoples residing off-reserve on traditional Mi’kmaq territory in the province.
