SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – A 40-year-old man was sentenced to an additional 55 days in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges.

According to police, shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, Clint David Hardy went to the Summerside Police Services to turn himself in for failing to attend jail to serve a previous sentence.

Upon his arrival, officers noticed Hardy had a facial injury and when officers tried to get Hardy medical attention, he assaulted one of the officers.

Hardy was taken into custody and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and uttering threats.

He appeared in court Monday morning to answer to the charges and pleaded guilty.

His existing weekend sentence was converted to straight time and Hardy was sentenced to an additional 55 days.

He must pay $400 in victim surcharges.
