Man charged following home invasion

SUMMERSIDE — Summerside police have laid charges in relation to a home invasion that occurred at a Summer Street residence on Nov. 8 in Summerside.

On Nov. 11, just before 3:30 p.m., Summerside Police Services received a 911 call reporting a home invasion in progress at the Summer Street residence.

Two teenage girls were at home at the time the suspect entered the residence.

Both stayed in the upper level of the house and could hear the suspect rummaging through the residence.

The girls then contacted their father and grandfather.

The grandfather, who lives nearby, attended the residence to find the suspect inside armed with a knife.

After being confronted by the grandfather, the suspect fled the residence and police were contacted.

There were no in juries to any of those involved in the incident.

Kevin Lee Walsh, 27, has been charged with break and enter along with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Walsh has been remanded into custody.
